Charles Devereux

Charles has 41 years experience in Railway Operations and Systems, major projects and business case development. After graduating from Cambridge University, he was a British Rail Operations Management trainee. He held operational posts in both freight and passenger fields before working in development of train planning software. He was Route Manager for a number of years, before becoming responsible for development and commercial exploitation of the Railway telecommunications network. He joined Crossrail in 2003 as it gathered political momentum. He was one of those who oversaw the Parliamentary process, and then held the role of head of Rail Operations, before leaving in 2013.

Charles now works as a consultant, which includes advising major projects worldwide. He is retained by the Victorian State Government on a Peer Review Group which meets four times a year to advise on major state rail projects. He has also worked for the DfT advising on HS2, as well as being on the bid team for MTR Crossrail, MTR West Coast, a major rolling stock bid and the Amey bid for Docklands light railway.
