Alison Smith

Alison is an expert in Customer Experience strategy and Supply Chain Management.  With over 20 years’ management experience at First Group and Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), she is a highly effective and dynamic leader with extensive board level transport industry experience, supported by excellent relationship management and problem-solving skills.

After graduation as a Law Graduate, Alison trained in information technology and services at Sun Microsystems, focusing on the Supply Chain and Operations activities, which she ended up managing. She moved into Rail and headed up Digital, Loyalty and ultimately Customer Experience. Since then, Alison has moved into consulting principally advising train operators and the Railway Delivery Group, supporting initiatives on disability and SMART ticketing.

Working most recently on the development of next generation of ticketing systems, exploiting advances in mobility and payment systems to significantly simplify the experience for customers of paying for and accessing transport networks. It reflects her enthusiasm for inclusivity and technology enabled access connecting all people to places and cities.

A team player, used to leading multi-discipled teams, supporting clients across a range of business challenges including: customer experience strategy and proposition development; turning customer and stakeholder insight into effective action planning and business case development; bid development and writing and organisational design and people management.
