Matthew Crosse BSc CEng MIEE

Matthew has 23 years experience in transport covering more than 25 projects worldwide. Over 13 years have been at the cutting edge of privatisation and capital procurement. He has a comprehensive understanding of the rail market and its privatisation dynamics and is conversant with the development, procurement and delivery of new rail projects. He has worked in director level positions for a number of leading international firms both in general management and in commercial activities. Matthew’s strong engineering background combined with his project knowledge, commercial, financial, legal and business management skills make him a much sought after adviser. He has strong presentational and communications skills and is a capable advocate and negotiator. His most recent role was Project Director for the Edinburgh Tram scheme where, on behalf of the public sector he led a large team procuring a turnkey light rail system. In 2002 he established Strategic Lines.

Sherwood Prest BA FCA MBCS

Sherwood has more than 25 years experience as a management consultant, investment analyst and economist. His extensive and diverse experience spans a range of sectors and geographic markets including work in Russia, Egypt, Estonia, Nigeria, and Zambia etc. He has worked for the World Bank, EBRD, EU, ADB, ODA, DFID and other organisations. Recent assignments have involved the design, management and audit of major financial models for large PFI/PPP transport concessions in the UK and overseas.

Andy Keasley MSc, MIRSE, MIAM

A railway signalling and maintenance specialist, with strong career credentials in technical management - primarily at London Underground. He is a highly experienced consultant in mass transit railway asset management, operational maintenance engineering and business change management. He understands the process of balancing capital investment and maintenance expenditure utilising whole life cost principles. He has used this understanding to help develop and deliver technical and asset management strategies for signalling and control systems, rolling stock and permanent way assets. Andy also has practitioner experience in railway incident and accident investigation management at strategic and tactical levels. He is member of the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers; and the Institute of Asset Management.

Michael Roebuck

Mike has worked in the railways sector since the early 70’s, is experienced in many aspects of operational management and commercial services. He is an acknowledge expert in freight both in the UK and in Europe where he has worked for various major businesses such a Railfreight and a number of international advisory firms. His international experience means he has an in depth understanding of the rail liberalisation process in Europe as well as being fluent in three languages. He is a member of International Association of Tariff and Transport Experts (IVT), Vienna, Austria (Committee) and the Institute of Directors (UK)

Piers Connor MSc, MCIT, MILT

Piers has experience in all virtually all fields of transportation engineering and technology. His career spanning over 30 years has taken him all over the world and involved senior technical, project and managerial roles for London Underground, Eurotunnel, Canadian Pacific, Bechtel and Bombardier - as well as numerous other international consulting assignments. He is a renowned senior consultant with extensive knowledge encompassing project planning, design and engineering, operational management and maintenance practices, rolling stock and railway systems integration where he currently lectures in this subject. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Transport and Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Ray Dent M I Mech E and C Eng

Ray has over 30 years industrial and project management experience with some 20 of these spent in senior management roles within the rail sector. He is an accomplished project manager with strong commercial and engineering skills covering a range of product, manufacturing and turnkey rail systems projects. Recent roles include bid management on a Swedish concession bid and commercial management of a major signalling upgrade contract for a metro. Other project management, concession development projects and turnkey bids have been in Italy, Holland, Israel, Bangkok and the UK.

Andy Garlick MA PhD FIRM

With a background in mathematics, Andy has worked in risk for over 25 years. Starting from the complex reliability and physics modelling needed in nuclear reactor risk assessment, Andy has made risk more accessible and business-relevant through his innovative approach and his leadership of several risk-based consulting practices. He is the author of Estimating Risk: A Management Approach, the comprehenseive guide to quantitative risk analysis, and has advised several organisations bidding for PFI/PPP deals on this, as well as mitigation strategies and risk management and pricing.

Joshua Crosse BA

Joshua is a new associate who recently graduated from Hull University with a BA in Politics and Philosophy. He has a growing experience across a range of activities including marketing products and methods, transportation research, the creation, development and formatting of bid documents and the preparation and use of Excel workbooks and databases. He has been involved in several project assignments, including a marketing support role, a stakeholder database and various European transport market projects. He is familiar with web development, high quality presentation materials, complex document structures, data management, database development and is adept with web based tools.

Gradimir Stefanovic

Grad has worked extensively in urban transport over his 30 year career. He started in the 70s working for the Belgrade Public Transport Company and has since been involved in almost every aspect of urban transport planning and design working on projects throughout Europe. In recent years he has played a pivotal role in the transition processes in South East and East Europe including the TACIS project for institutional reforms and public transport restructuring in 14 cities in Russia. Currently based in London, Grad is a Member of Light Rail Transit Association (LRTA) and a Member of UK Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics. He has published over 50 professional papers for professional magazines, symposiums and conferences.

David Hughes Powell MEng MSc

David is a highly qualified and experienced Director with twenty years experience within the public transportation sector. He has developed business with and delivered a wide range of projects, products and services both for private and public sector customers both domestically and internationally. He has held leading roles on projects in the Far East, Dubai, Turkey, Israel and Portugal. Since 2005 he has been a rail management consultant working on projects in Merseyside, Edinburgh and Manchester where he has variously led tram and systems procurement teams. His core project management, engineering and contracts experience enables him to lead the integration of these pivotal work streams. He is a fluent French speaker.
